Lava sources can be made from lava flowing over redstone wires and igneous cobbled netherrack touching lava!

Fishing rods can latch onto ropes. They act a bit like a grappling hook, but only launch the player a set distance.

Lightning is a bit picky with what it strikes and you can control where it strikes.

Lightning will strike the topmost block at a coordinate, and is attracted to some blocks and deterred by others

When lightning strike it will pick an XZ coordinate to strike. Then it will scan a (presumably) 65x65 area centered on that coordinate and strike the greatest weight block.

The weight of a block for lightning to strike it is its conductivity plus Y height minus its distance from the center block plus an offset of 0-10.

Falling and held blocks tick! Useful for automation! Don't exit a world with a trommel in the air however, you'll have to do some NBT editing to re-enter that world... (Fixed in 7.4 dev)

If you ever got your hand on a bedrock block in survival mode, you could make a portal to the drift by placing it within a glowstone frame!

Most items can be placed on the player's head for no added protection, with the exception of chestplates, leggings and boots.

Information items like compasses function in the helmet slot!

You can change the color of fireflies by breaking a jar of them in a biome with different native color. Example: break a jar of orange fireflies in a glacier biome at night. Wait a few seconds for them to change to blue then catch them again with a jar. You can also get an exclusive color this way if you do it in a world where only the undead trive....

Activated and Deactivated Mob Spawners let items pass through! Unless you're going fancy, regular meshes will do as well.

Here are some typing and inventory managements things that are nice to know.

While in the chat or a search box you can use:

ctrl + left/right arrow to move the cursor the length of a word
home to move the cursor to the start of the line
end to move the cursor to the end of the line
up/down arrow to go through previously typed messages

The chat window can also be scrolled if it gets too long!

While in the inventory you can use:

ctrl + click to move one of an item (or take one of an item from the creative menu)
alt + click to move a stack of items into the crafting grid, workbench, or creative menu
shift + ctrl + click to move all same items into a storage
ctrl + q to throw a stack straight from the slot
ctrl + click on the creative menu buttons to turn 10 pages at once
right click on the creative menu search box to clear the box
shift + click on the X next to the search box to clear your inventory

Lot to know... but honestly I just hold shift + ctrl + alt and click and pray
