I've found I can play the game for longer stretches of time when listening to r/nosleep readings or things of that nature, and want to know if that's out of the ordinary or if other people do similar or the same

There's a genre of games I like to call "podcast games", which are essentially games that are well-suited to playing with a podcast on in the background. Minecraft is a great example of that, as is Vintage Story. My go-to at the moment is the What is Music? podcast.

I listen to the game, I'm a huge sucker for sound design and stuff like that, so I don't really listen to music apart from what's already in game.

It really depends on my mood, but few days ago I've found some music made on c64 and I think it suits the game pretty nicely.
"CODE ME A SONG" by Randall (Michal Hoffmann) is my favourite by far.

recently i've bee listening to a lot of Brain Eno's and David Byrne's album called My Life in The Bush of Ghosts, decided to make my pfp here that cover art for the album because of that lol

What I listen to usually depends on my mood but I listen to some Robert Fripp's solo stuff since I really like his soundscapes, which he called "Frippertronics"

Long youtube videos. Preferably in the 2 hour range, or a series of videos. I try to avoid anything I would want to actively watch though, like a lets play. I do every so often listen to music (charli xcx da goat) but I find when playing games music just kinda passes by me. It's probably because I haven't setup any proper playlist since switching streaming apps

My never-ending internal monologue that occasionally gets interrupted by C418's beautiful tracks.

I usually have Geno Samuel's Chris Chan documentary on the second monitor while I'm playing. I was actively watching it when it first came out but I only watched it up to like part 20ish, trying to finish it now and currently at part 70.

I suppose this time of year it would be wrong to say anything other than Christmas Jazz.

Oh also, who actually has a constant internal monologue? I can hear words in my head when I try but that’s weird for it to be consistent.

Autistic people like me, at least sometimes when working things out because a constant stream of thoughts can be overwhelming and often cause meltdowns. It's absolutely a real thing

Idk, I usually narrate everything I'm doing in my head while I play games but it goes away if I'm listening to music or watching a video. For me, all of my thoughts are like spoken(?) inside my head as they happen. I can't think if that inner voice isn't speaking so if there's other noise around me, I basically can't think at all because it overpowers my inner voice.

Usually, I like being able to listen to the games I play, but when I do want some music with Minecraft (in general) I find myself enjoying the original Age of Empires II soundtrack a lot, especially when I'm walking long distances on the surface.

I don't have any playlist, but I can recommend you checking "suzuki liana ddis" on yt.
To be honest, I don't know too much authors or something, as I only have listened to Randall and Jammer.

Usually either Aphex twin of Boards of Canada. I feel these two go really well with BTA's whole atmosphere. Aside from that, I find that Jaco Pastorious makes for a good combo as well.

Either a Dialko/Mahjong Blonsky video or Boards of Canada on shuffle.

I listen to valve music: Half Life, TF2, and Portal.

i honestly agree. some people may argue it takes away from the e perience but it's really rela ing for me personally. that is when i'm not playing with friends and such.

When I listen to podcasts I’m personally a fan of Caveat. Kind of american centric though. I suppose I’d most of the time rather call someone up when I’m playing a game but podcasts are definitely a good option.

My go-to is Worry by Jeff Rosenstock, which I've found is a nice contrast to calm building. Sometimes if I'm mining or doing something monotonous I'll put on a podcast instead though.

Oh bruh, why did i forget about it. Yeah i do usually play with friends on vc. Extra good if there is 3 or more, so even when you are silent, you can listen to the other 2 yap

there's a pretty good podcast called Kill the Computer that I like to listen to in the background

oh true! genuinely a comfort thing for me just listening to people talk for potentially hours while doing something else is nice. especially for games like minecraft or even Warframe

been listening to a lot of the Loudest Podcast and TrueAnon lately while playing, i think both of those picks say a lot about me and I'm not sure if any of it is very flattering...
