Spent 50 (or 49

) days in
The Aching City world.
I had to interrupt my habit of posting every 10 days so I could share a whole new structure. You may remember a small island near my main base (where the sugarcane farm is) I drastically changed the whole concept of that island. At first, I just wanted to decorate it with some lights, maybe make some sort of Japanese-style valley, but while exploring the world, I found a dungeon with spawners and spike traps.
The whole dungeon was built out of mossy cobblestone, so I decided to gather it and build something with it. (As the book says, you cannot craft this type of cobblestone, maybe I am wrong - feel free to correct me if I am). I figured that cobblestone became mossy because of long contact with water, and since I had an island to decorate... you can trace my thought process.
Then I decided to build a fort, starting with mossy cobblestone and smoothly proceeding to regular cobblestone. But... I don't know, maybe I feared it would be a much bigger project than it needed to be, or maybe it didn't thematically connect to the other buildings, so I scrapped the idea. Instead, I decided to turn that hill in the middle of the island into a small base.
Initially, I just made a system of tunnels to create a cozy but slightly claustrophobic vibe. But then I had a vision of many stone brick columns. I really like making parts of my buildings a little weird, so as a cherry on top, I made a small staircase in the corner. In the beginning, I wanted it to lead to nowhere, then I tried to construct a mineshaft (but there was too much water around), and lastly, I built a Nether portal there. I’m very glad the developers let players build portals of any size - it fits perfectly here.
The roof of this place was so empty but at the same time beautiful in a way that I decided to make a farm out of it! To kept that "flat" vibe of that roof but add depth to it (also 50 days in and I still didn't build even a small farm). It'll really be a big farm where I can grow a lot of wheat (and anything that BTA has to offer).
So, this
"Column Island" is not yet finished (there are even chests sitting out in the open), but the main idea is already there. I think next I want to build some roads between my buildings and maybe even make a map of this place!
