Modern-esque features in BTA
I dont know, i just feel like SOME of the modern features should be brought over in some fashion or another into BTA. The things missing that ive noticed so far are just small things but would make it so much better, for example being able to dye your dogs collar, or even being able to put bonemeal on a mushroom to grow it. Those things are lacking and i feel like theres probobly more but id love to hear your guys thoughts.

I personally really like carpets from modern Minecraft. However I do believe that backporting too many features could harm the simplicity of beta Minecraft.

to be honest I thought of that too and backporting features doesnt mean the simplicity is ruined because what were talking about is beta minecrafts gameplay loop, and how it encourages you to play. Adding cool new features is exactly what notch did and these features are really cool so, (and correct me if im wrong id love ya to) I dont see a problem with backporting cool features such as that one.

Re: Modern-esque features in BTA
Maybe I'm not the best person to ask, because I play BTA for its gameplay loop in particular rather then any nostalgia for Beta Minecraft. But I don't think this will be a problem, as long as the features backported are chosen carefully. I would love to see wool slabs & stairs and straw beds from the most recent update come to this mod.
