Trying to play on the same WiFi connection

Me and my partner want to play together and from what I can tell there seems to be a way through local network in the multiplayer tab, but there doesn't seem to be any LAN options in game. We live together so we're both on the same internet connection.
Do we still need to set up a server in order to actually play or am I missing something?
