TNT is a very useful block. It can be used to excavate sand or dirt cheaply and effectively, break walls, siege castles, truly, explosives are so versatile!
However, setting off those explosives safely is another thing. While you can obtain TNT relatively easily, redstone often generates deep and may be too valuable to simply blow up.
You often accumulate lots of gunpowder when fighting ghasts, trommelling and you can get even more through sulphur. Meanwhile, if you aren't actively looking out for it, redstone doesn't accumulate that fast.
Furthermore, if you want a delayed chain explosion, you may be looking at using stone and sticks (and, of course, even more redstone) to make repeaters.
All these things considered, would it not be a good idea to just use more gunpowder in that situation?
This is why I want to add placing gunpowder!
Placed gunpowder would behave similarly to redstone, but with some differences:
- Placed gunpowder would not instantly power on, instead it would burn. Once one placed gunpowder burns, all connected ones start burning as well.
- Placed gunpowder would have to be set on fire with (for example) a fire striker or a flaming arrow to be initiated.
- Flammable blocks underneath or in front of burning gunpowder are set on fire.
I think this would make for a really fun and useful mechanic that isn't too complex. Thanks for reading!
